…to Marion Taylor voted Simply the Best at WLP for the month of October and our heartfelt sympathy to dear Marion on the tragic loss of her husband [pic top right]
…to Wayne Turner and his kitchen team at WLP for the recent Food Hygiene audit inspection and a good grade of 87% achieved [pic middle left]
…to David Seward [pic middle right] and the whole team at WLP for the recent AA Hotel inspection, giving us a provisional Four Star, 80% quality rating, one AA Rosette grading keeping us as the highest quality rated four star hotel in north London and Hertfordshire
…to Grant Cook and his Maintenance team for another two bedrooms refurbished at WLP with flat screen Samsung TVs, Zoffany wallpaper, and newly painted woodwork [pic bottom left]
…to the Gardens team, headed up by Derek Honour, Grant Cook, Trevor Beale, Paul Baynes, Andrew Swales, and Beverley Doidge on the success of the recent Autumn open day. 151 people came through the gate and enjoyed some ravishingly beautiful autumn colours [pic bottom right]

…to Lucy Palmer who joins Beales Hotels on the 4th January 2010 as Sales Manager for Beales Hotels. Lucy is extremely experienced and has for several years carried out this role at St Michaels Manor, St Albans. She is the successor of choice of Sally Wilkinson who recently retired from this position after over 16 years with the company.
…to Alderman Ian Luder, Lord Mayor of London, who visited WLP to plant a fine specimen of Corylus Colurna, or Turkish Hazel, on the putting green. He is the twelfth Lord Mayor to plant a tree at the hotel continuing a relationship with Mansion House started with Sir Hugh Wontner in 1973. Ian Luder is a local boy from Enfield made good and has a long family association with WLP
…to an Unknown Man, formerly known as Abraham Cowley, our latest addition to the canon of works of art by Mary Beale. This is a fine giclée copy of an original Mary Beale portrait in store at the National Portrait Gallery in London and is now hanging in a prominent position in the Orangery part of the Mary Beale Restaurant at WLP [pic top]
…to the Considerate Hoteliers Association, who hosted their best practice seminar on all matters environmental at WLP this month with visitors from around London, SE England and the Midlands who heard about all the initiatives Beales Hotels has become well known for in the green arena

And finally…

…a terrific two page Christmas feature in Hertfordshire Countryside magazine has kicked off our Christmas season at Beales Hotels – a busy time preparing for a crazy three weeks at the hotels with decorations to be organised, party bookings taken, Turkey and Christmas puddings ordered, and staff booked. Even in the depths of the recession, which contrary to media and government wishful thinking has not ended, we have found that people still wish to go out at Christmas and enjoy themselves after the hard year we have all had [see right] (click image to download aPDF)
