Congratulations to

…Tom Boyne, Adam Brooks and John Keane who are newly elected members of the Guild of Banqueting Comperes following the successful completion of their course on Banqueting management, seen here with their Guild medals with Tony King and Andrew Beale.

Welcome to:

Amy Tregidgo Meetings and Events Coordinator BH from Four Seasons Head Office, Inn on the Park, London.

Grape Picking day

at Warden Abbey vineyard – several team members spent the day at this renowned vineyard in Bedfordshire on the Whitbread Estate picking the 2008 season grapes including Reichensteiner, Bacchus, and Regner grapes – the joy is in knowing that the wines made from our efforts will be on the wine lists of the hotels next season.

Open Day in the Beale Arboretum

163 people visited the arboretum and enjoyed the spectacular autumn colours of the American red oaks, the maples and the liquid ambars. £500 was raised for the charities associated with the National Gardens Scheme. With many thanks to all involved in making this a great success.

Estates news

new windows have been inserted into WLP bedrooms 54, 55, 56, 58, 60 and 62, new beds into WLP bedrooms 5, 58 and 59, new doors have been built for the Buckland Suite at BH with far more daylight in the room now, a new meeting room at WLP has been created, and new artwork has been hung in the Buckland Suite at BH. The air conditioning scheme at BH is nearly finished – one of only two hotels in Hertfordshire with air conditioning – a real bonus to this already highly specced hotel.

Staff news

fantastic new benefits for members of the Beales Team include
1) all staff over 5 years service will receive in addition to a 25 day holiday entitlement, a 26th day off on or around their birthday, and
2) all staff over 2 years’ service will now be entitled to one night complimentary dinner bed and breakfast stay at a Beales Hotel each year.

During these new tough times, we will not be taking on any new staff but will all have to work closer and more flexibly together.

And finally…

what better way to shake off the credit crunch blues than with a nice afternoon tea at West Lodge Park, a delicious dinner at Beales Hotel, or a luxurious overnight stay at the hotels as a mini break. We now have Beales Hotels Gift Vouchers for just this purpose which are available from the hotel receptions in £25 amounts, in a nice silver envelope as a great Christmas gift to family and friends. They are also available via the website at www.bealeshotels.co.uk.
