Congratulations

…to Dave Seward and all the WLP team for a fantastic AA inspection that has resulted in our AA rating rising from 4 star 2 rosettes 77% to 4 star 2 rosettes 80% making us far and away the highest rated 4 star hotel for miles around. The inspector praised in particular the happiness of the team and the quality of the service she received at each step of her visit.

…to Yioda Joannou Head Housekeeper WLP and Ljubica Goga Breakfast supervisor WLP for 15 and 10 years service respectively – Yioda is pictured receiving her award from Andrew, Tony and Dave.

…to Matthew Gundy Deputy GM at BH (pic far right) for being voted
Hotel Champion for January – March

WLP awarded 5 star!

Well, not from the AA but from the unlikely source of the Environmental Protection department of Enfield Council with their new “Scores on the doors” scheme. Anyone can now go onto their website and see how their local pub/restaurant/take away or hotel has fared in its most recent environmental hygiene inspections. Fortunately, WLP is awarded 5 stars for “very high standards of compliance with food safety legislation demonstrating best practice in managing and achieving this”.

Web news

Over 9,100 people visited www.bealeshotels.co.uk last month with an average time of over 6 minutes spent on the site by each visitor – this is testament to the depth of content on the site with over 100 different pages to read now.

New web pages include a Food page, a Community page, a Local Area page, new Special offers for BH, new downloadable hotel brochure for BH and many upgraded WLP pages. If you haven’t visited www.bealeshotels.co.uk recently, I really would urge you to have a look.

Downloads There are 42 separate documents downloadable on the website now – to give an example of how this transforms the business, 448 downloads of the WLP hotel brochure were made in June alone.

Training and Development

…is gathering pace under Aimie Chatfield (pic right) with an exciting management development programme starting up with Theresa Dickinson from Blue Mountain Training, Social Skills sessions, COSSH training, First Aid, and much activity for our Polish team with ESOL training and exams.

The Estates department

…under Grant Cook (pic right) is busy improving the reception area at WLP, the new Restaurant terrace at BH, the top field at WLP, while the new boilers at WLP are taking shape, thanks to an £83k interest free loan from the Carbon Trust.

And finally…

we have committed to purchasing at least 10% of all our food from the local area. We might well surpass this as we have made contact with Bridget Borlase at Sacombe Hill Farm near Watton at Stone. She produces delicious beef and other meats and we are proud to now have her beef on our a’la carte and Sunday lunch menus at WLP and BH.

Our guests have all commented on the melt-in-the-mouth beef – so not only are we substantially reducing food miles, we are also improving the quality for our guests and at no extra cost. Beef is just one of numerous food items that we are sourcing from the local area.

For more information, see the Food page on the website.
