A vacancy has arisen for CHEF DE PARTIE at The Bell Hotel at Saxmundham, situated in the heart of Suffolk, our Grade II listed hotel, bar and restaurant is steeped in history.

The role:

  • Permanent contract working up to 5* hours over 5 days per week, as per rota (*45 hrs p.w. + 30 mins. unpaid break per shift) including weekdays, weekends, daytime, evenings & Bank Holidays etc. in line with business needs and may include some split shifts.

We are looking for an experienced Chef De Partie candidates to join our Kitchen Brigade.  The ideal candidate will be career-minded and hardworking with a passion for food. Previous experience of working as a Chef De Partie or similar role is preferred. Good work ethic, positive attitude and motivation, commitment and good team player are essential requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Has good culinary skills and experience of working as a Chef in previous role, preferably in a quality restaurant/culinary environment;
  • Ability to run your section as required efficiently and effectively
  • Be organised & precise, with a keen eye for detail, but is also creative;
  • Ability to place stock orders, deal with deliveries and stock carrying/rotation, and maintain high standards of food hygiene;
  • has relevant food safety training and relevant culinary qualifications
  • has good interpersonal and communication skills and be good at working as part of a team is essential;
  • ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure, remaining calm in high stress situations;
  • have a solid understanding of kitchen hygiene standards and procedures to ensure hygiene compliance
  • Some roles require proven line management/Supervisory experience in a kitchen/culinary environment, as will be required to lead the kitchen brigade in absence of the Head Chef;
  • is enthusiastic, motivational, creative and someone who strives for excellence.

About your Experience:

  • Working in a Hotel: 1 to 3 years (preferred)
  • Chef: 1 to3 years (preferred)
  • Excellent knowledge of some or all sections
  • Ability to produce excellent high-quality food
  • Good oral communication
  • Able to work in a team
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge plus those around you
  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
  • Ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work
  • Positive and approachable manner
  • Team player qualities
