Congratulations

to Nathan Wiffen, promoted from Restaurant manager WLP to Deputy General manager BH – Nathan took a step down from F&B Manager with Hand Picked Hotels to come to Beales Hotels and is now promoted to his rightful level at BH.

Farewell

…to Sally Wilkinson who has retired after 16 years at Beales Hotels as Sales Manager. At her farewell party Sally was presented with an engraved carriage clock by the Directors, a digital photo frame by the staff and cards signed by all her colleagues. She will be much missed by all in the company. (pic right)

…to John Farron (pic left) after two spells totalling 18 years as Head Porter at Hatfield Lodge, then at Beales Hotel. At his farewell party John was presented with a Philadelphus shrub for his garden, a voucher and a keg of beer from his colleagues at BH. John will be much missed by all in the company. (pic far right)

Other staff changes

Other staff changes at this time include Claire Johnston (pic right) from Reception Manager WLP to the same position at BH, and Tom Boyne (pic far right) from Head Porter WLP to the same position at BH.

Congratulations

…to Bruce Govia, promoted to Restaurant and Bars manager at BH and to Kieran Wheeler promoted to Trainee Manager at BH.

…to Mihaela Mindru, employee of the quarter at Beales Hotel and to Jessica Pryor, employee of the year 2008 at BH – fantastic awards and well deserved

Estates news

…The new Business Centre (pic left) has opened at WLP as the ninth meeting room – seating up to 6 at a squeeze or 4 comfortably, the location is next to bedroom 36 with lovely views across the gardens.

…The Mary Beale restaurant scheme is proceeding fast now, incredibly only a month until opening. The double length bar is in place and looks huge! The plastering and ceiling work is mainly complete now and already the space feels brighter and more up to date.

Sales news

…with the retirement of Sally Wilkinson, the sales function will carry on with Carolyn Mills, Val Campbell, Chris Hall, Dave Seward and Andrew Beale meeting fortnightly to share the workload. With excellent back up from Tyga Marketing on all our print and website, and our back office GDS and internet representation via Hotel Rez, we are strong going forward.

…Look out for the BH Special Events and Christmas 09 brochure now available as a download on www.bealeshotels.co.uk and soon to be in print.

And finally…

sales continue at a low ebb during this incredibly hard time for everybody. Our guests feel the pinch from lack of disposable income, our casual staff find themselves sadly laid off, and our full time staff have more responsibility and less back up as a result. Nonetheless Beales Hotels will continue investing for the future, using the slack periods to refurbish bedrooms and improve things for our guests.
