To Diego Granada, returning as Head Chef at BH – Diego you have been much missed but it is great to welcome you back again – you are firmly among friends here at Beales Hotels.

Great news !

…At WLP we have successfully installed 49 new Samsung flat screen LCD TVs in the remaining bedrooms not already equipped with up to date TVs. These TVs are all capable of receiving Freeview with over 90 TV and Radio channels to choose from, including BBC 3 and 4, ITV 2, More4, E4, Film Four, Sky Sports 1,2,3. This is a huge improvement on the old Quadriga pay movie system that felt wrong for WLP. The flat screens also save a few square feet of floor space making the bedrooms seem more spacious as a result.

…Arboretum tours – This early summer season has seen several visits by large groups to the Beale Arboretum including the most prestigious visit possible by the International Dendrology Society – the pre-eminent group of tree experts in the world. All were thoroughly impressed with the attention to detail in the Beale Arboretum with particular trees causing comment including Pyrus Chanticleer, Quercus x Rosaceae Filiformis, Taxodium Ascendens Nutans and Pinus Wallichiana.

…Similarly the Garden Open Day, held in blustery conditions, welcomed over 70 people through the gates for Arboretum tours and afternoon teas, in the process raising over £200 for the National Garden Scheme.

…The new Portraits at West Lodge Park brochure (top right) is now out and available for our guests and staff to read – a stunning collection of first class portraits around the hotel with a full history of each one.

…At last we will be getting rid of the final three single beds in the company! We have ordered new 4’ beds for bedrooms 54, 55 and 56 at West Lodge Park which along with 58, 60 and 62 are still let as single rooms but with a much more spacious bed. A great moment for the company and not before time.

…Exciting forthcoming special events in June at both hotels include a Simcha Showcase at BH, Fathers Day lunches at both hotels, a Summer Jazz evening at WLP and a Midsummer Champagne Gourmet dinner at WLP

And finally…

great news with the successful planning application for a new conservatory at WLP. Although sales do not permit this to be built this year, we are hopeful of seeing this great new addition to the hotel before long, giving another 24 covers to our bar area.
